Following the announcement by U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro regarding arrests in the murder case of Eric Tarpinian-Jachym, Congressman Ron Estes issued a statement expressing hope that the development will provide some relief to those affected.
“Today, U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro announced that two arrests were made for the individuals who shot and killed my intern, Eric Tarpinian-Jachym, on June 30, 2025,” said Rep. Estes. “Although nothing can reverse this horrific act of violence that took the life of a kind and bright young man, my hope is that today’s announcement will bring peace and closure to the family and friends of Eric, and all who knew and loved him. Thank you to U.S. Attorney Pirro, the detectives at the Metropolitan Police Department, and all who worked to make the arrests for this violent crime.”
Eric Tarpinian-Jachym was serving as an intern in Estes’ Washington office when he was killed earlier this summer.
Rep. Estes has been active in addressing crime issues in Washington D.C., having recently participated with colleagues in a press conference focused on efforts to reduce crime in the city. He also previously expressed condolences to Tarpinian-Jachym’s family following his death and honored his life on the House floor.
Ron Estes has represented Kansas’ 4th district in Congress since 2017 after succeeding Mike Pompeo (https://estes.house.gov/about/). He was born in Topeka, Kansas in 1956 and currently resides in Wichita. Estes holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Tennessee Technological University.
