Ron Estes addresses Planned Parenthood funding and D.C. safety after intern's death

Rep. Ron Estes, a U.S. Congressman representing Kansas’s 4th district since 2017, addressed several issues in recent posts on his social media account, including Medicaid funding for Planned Parenthood, public safety in Washington D.C., and an audit of FAA airspace management following a fatal collision.

On August 10, 2025, Estes wrote: "One of the main provisions in the One Big, Beautiful Bill was cutting off Medicaid funding from Planned Parenthood. Medicaid should actually help people preserve and protect life - not end it."

Addressing concerns about crime in the nation’s capital on August 11, 2025, he posted: "Our nation's capital should be safe for the many people who visit, work and live there. Rampant crime has been prevalent for too long, and we saw the devastating effects impact our own team less than two months ago with the tragic murder of our intern, Eric. The status quo from"

In a post dated August 12, 2025, Estes commented on federal oversight of aviation safety: "On Friday the @DOTInspectorGen initiated an audit of how the FAA manages DCA’s airspace following the Jan. 29 collision of AA Flight 5342 and Black Hawk PAT 25 that resulted in the tragic loss of 67 lives. I sent a letter requesting an audit in June, and I fully support this"

Estes has served as a member of Congress since replacing Mike Pompeo in 2017. He was born in Topeka in 1956 and currently resides in Wichita. Estes holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Tennessee Technological University.
