Rep. Ron Estes, a U.S. Congressman representing Kansas’ 4th district since 2017, has recently shared a series of statements on social media regarding federal spending and Medicaid policy.
On August 7, Estes commented on legislative achievements related to government spending: "Getting the first rescissions package done in decades through Congress was an incredible accomplishment. Going forward, we should focus on cutting the increased spending during the pandemic and redundant federal programs."
A day later, he addressed Medicaid funding for abortion providers: "Medicaid, which is funded by taxpayer dollars, should not be going to abortion providers like Planned Parenthood. Our historic One Big, Beautiful Bill cuts off Planned Parenthood through 2026. Congress has time to make this move permanent."
On August 9, Estes commented on public sentiment toward recent Medicaid debates: "The American public is turning against Democrats for opposing commonsense cuts to taxpayer-funded Medicaid for illegal immigrants and able-bodied adults who refuse to work."
Estes has represented Kansas’s 4th District since replacing Mike Pompeo in 2017 and currently resides in Wichita. Born in Topeka in 1956, he holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Tennessee Technological University.
