U.S. Congressman Ron Estes (R-Kansas) delivered a speech on the House floor to honor the life of Eric Tarpinian-Jachym, an intern in his office who was killed in Washington, D.C., on June 30, 2025. Eric was an innocent bystander when he was shot near the White House.

In his remarks, Rep. Estes expressed condolences to Eric's family and friends. He described Eric as a kind presence in his office and noted that he was a rising senior at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Rep. Estes highlighted Eric's dedication and love for the country, acknowledging the impact he had during his time as an intern.

Rep. Estes requested a moment of silence to remember Eric Jachym, stating, "Eric Jachym was a dedicated, and thoughtful and kind person who loved our country, and he gave his life in the service of others."
