Rep. Ron Estes of Kansas has expressed his approval following Canada's decision to remove Digital Services Taxes (DSTs) on the United States. In a statement, Rep. Estes described the move as beneficial for American businesses and workers.
“Canada’s decision to rescind their egregious Digital Services Taxes is a win for American businesses and workers,” said Rep. Estes. “I’ve consistently called for an end to this discriminatory tax practice, and I’m grateful that under President Trump’s leadership, American tax sovereignty is being protected.”
Rep. Estes has been a long-time opponent of DSTs, including Canada’s Digital Services Tax Act (DSTA). He recently joined colleagues in sending a letter to President Donald Trump advocating for the removal of Canada's DST.
In 2023, Rep. Estes introduced a resolution against foreign DSTs and last year condemned Canada's initial implementation of the tax on the United States. During the 119th Congress, he supported the Trump administration's investigation into DSTs.
