In a recent announcement, Rep. Ron Estes (R-Kansas) has been appointed as the chair of the newly formed U.S. Innovation Tax Team by Ways and Means Committee Chairman Jason Smith and Tax Subcommittee Chairman Mike Kelly. Rep. Estes will lead the team, which aims to study key tax provisions from the 2017 Trump tax cuts set to expire in 2025 and identify legislative solutions to support American families, workers, and small businesses. Additionally, Rep. Estes will also be serving on the Global Competitiveness Tax Team.

Expressing his enthusiasm for the role, Rep. Estes highlighted the importance of American innovation, stating, "Americans are innovators – it's in our DNA." He emphasized the significance of fostering a tax code that promotes creativity and supports research, development, and innovation within the United States. Rep. Estes also mentioned his dedication to collaborating with Vice Chair Michelle Steel and the team to enhance American innovation.

The U.S. Innovation Tax Team includes members such as Rep. Michelle Steel (California), Rep. David Schweikert (Arizona), Rep. Drew Ferguson (Georgia), Rep. Kevin Hern (Oklahoma), and Rep. Greg Murphy (North Carolina).

Rep. Estes has a track record of advocating for American innovation, with efforts such as reintroducing the American Innovation and R&D Competitiveness Act and actively participating in discussions and hearings related to pro-growth tax policies. His commitment to promoting U.S. global competitiveness is evident through his opposition to detrimental aspects of international tax frameworks that could impact American businesses.

As Rep. Estes takes on his new role as the chair of the U.S. Innovation Tax Team and member of the Global Competitiveness Tax Team, his focus remains on driving innovation, supporting American businesses, and ensuring the country's competitive edge in the global economy.
