U.S. Congressman Ron Estes and his wife, Susan, have expressed their condolences to the family of Eric Tarpinian-Jachym following a tragic incident in Northwest D.C. on Monday night. Eric, who was an intern in Congressman Estes' Washington office since June 2025, was a victim of a shooting.

Eric was pursuing a degree in finance with a minor in political science at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst and was set to become a senior.

Congressman Estes remarked on Eric's positive demeanor: “I will remember his kind heart and how he always greeted anyone who entered our office with a cheerful smile.” He added that they are thankful for Eric's contributions to Kansas’ 4th District and the nation. Estes requested privacy for Eric’s family during this difficult period.

Ron Estes has been serving Kansas’ 4th Congressional District since 2017. Before his congressional career, he worked as an engineer improving systems in various sectors. He is also involved in several committees including the House Committee on Ways and Means, Budget Committee, and Joint Economic Committee. Additionally, he chairs the Social Security Subcommittee and co-chairs the House Aerospace Caucus.
