Senators Jerry Moran and Roger Marshall, along with Representatives Tracey Mann, Derek Schmidt, Sharice Davids, and Ron Estes released a joint statement addressing the incident.
"Our prayers are with the families and friends of those affected by the tragic plane crash that occurred in our nation’s capital," they stated. They acknowledged the close-knit nature of south central Kansas, noting that many may have personal connections to Flight 5342, which crashed on January 29. The delegation emphasized that this event is deeply felt by Kansans due to their region's strong ties to aviation and manufacturing.
The statement also conveyed gratitude towards first responders and rescue crews who worked tirelessly through the night.
