Sedgwick County COVID-19 Update: December 19, 2022, weekly report.

Sedgwick County Health Department COVID-19 Vaccine Information:Total Doses Given by Sedgwick County Health Department: 294,772

SCHD offers no-cost COVID-19 vaccine to uninsured adults and uninsured or state-insured children at its Main Clinic, 2716 W. Central. Eligible individuals can call 316-660-7361 to make an appointment. The Main Clinic offers Pfizer for eligible children 6 months and older.

An updated, bivalent COVID-19 booster dose is available to people over age 5 who completed a primary series at least 2 months ago.

UPDATE:  Federal agencies have approved use of the updated, bivalent vaccine in children up to 5 years old. Updated vaccine for this age group is not yet locally available.

Under the federal approvals:

* Children ages 6 months–4 years old who complete a Moderna primary series can receive an updated Moderna booster two months later.* 5-year-old children who complete a Moderna primary series can receive Pfizer’s or Moderna’s updated boosters two months later.

Children ages 6 months–4 years who received two doses of the three-dose Pfizer primary series will now receive the updated Pfizer vaccine as a third dose. A booster dose is not authorized for children in this age group.

No-Cost, COVID-19 Sampling:Sedgwick County Health Department only provides COVID-19 tests for uninsured adults, uninsured children, and children with CHIP or Medicaid/KanCare.• These individuals can make a COVID-19 testing appointment at SCHD’s Main Clinic (2716 W. Central) by calling 316-660-7300• In addition to the Sedgwick County Health Department, there are additional testing sites in Wichita for residents to utilize.

The Health Department will make three attempts to reach residents with their results.*If you receive a voicemail or missed call from the Health Department, please call back in order to receive your results.*For the quickest response, please call (316) 660-1022 and listen for the prompt to leave a message for the results department.  *Residents wanting to self-report at-home COVID-19 tests can now do so at https://www.sedgwickcounty.org/.../covid-19-at-home-test.../o  SCHD will provide up-to-date quarantine and isolation guidance to people submitting the form who test positive or who test negative but were a close contact of someone with COVID-19.
