Rep. Ron Estes (R-Kansas) has announced the dates for the annual Congressional Art Competition. The competition provides a platform for talented young artists to showcase their work and have it displayed in the U.S. Capitol.
"We consistently have more than 100 entries from various schools across the district, including public, private, homeschool, urban, and rural schools," said Rep. Estes. "Past participants have been energized to see their art on display at Mark Arts in Wichita – an encouragement to keep pursuing and refining their artistic skills. High school students with an interest in the arts should consider entering this distinctive competition."
High school students in Kansas' 4th District are eligible to submit up to two art pieces for the competition. The deadline to submit artwork is Thursday, March 28, 2024. All artwork submissions that meet the competition criteria will be displayed at Mark Arts in Wichita from April 12 to May 9.
A reception will be held on Saturday, April 20, at 10 a.m. to celebrate the artists and their work. The winning artwork will be framed and shipped to Washington, D.C., where it will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol for one year alongside other winners from around the country. Prizes may also be awarded to the participants.
Students and high school art teachers who are interested in learning more about the Congressional Art Competition can visit estes.house.gov/art for further information. This is a wonderful opportunity for young artists to gain recognition and showcase their talent on a national stage.
