Rep. Ron Estes of Kansas recently commented following the passing of House Bill H.R. 1526, also known as the No Rogue Rulings Act. The bill passed with a narrow vote of 219 to 213.
In his statement, Rep. Estes expressed concern about the current state of the judicial system and its impact on the balance of power among the three branches of government. "America has a system of checks and balances within our three branches of government, but rogue, activist judges whose jurisdiction covers a geographic area of our country are setting nationwide injunctions that are an abuse of power, making the judicial branch lopsided," he stated.
Rep. Estes also emphasized the importance of addressing this perceived imbalance caused by unelected district court judges. He stated, "When activist judges are siding with criminals in this country illegally, it's imperative to stand with the American people and limit the overreach of unelected judges in district courts, restoring the balance to our three branches of government and reaffirming the Supreme Court's role as the proper venue for nationwide rulings."
The No Rogue Rulings Act represents a move by some members of Congress to address concerns about judicial overreach and to reinforce the intended roles of different branches of government in the United States.
