This week, the Senate Republican Conference confirmed U.S. Senator Jerry Moran from Kansas as the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs. Upon his appointment, Sen. Moran expressed his gratitude and commitment to serving veterans.
"I am grateful for the opportunity to serve as Chairman of the Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, and I look forward to working on behalf of the brave men and women who have served in our nation’s Armed Forces, as well as their families, caregivers and survivors," said Sen. Moran.
He emphasized that the committee's work is guided by feedback from veterans in Kansas and nationwide. "The work we do on the committee is and will continue to be driven by the voices of veterans in Kansas and across the country," he stated.
Sen. Moran highlighted his intention to collaborate with Senator Richard Blumenthal from Connecticut, former Congressman Doug Collins, and President Donald Trump to ensure that veterans receive high-quality healthcare and benefits. He also stressed accountability within the VA system.
Throughout his congressional career, Sen. Moran has focused on improving life quality for nearly 250,000 veterans residing in Kansas. His previous roles include serving both as a ranking member and chairman of committees related to veteran affairs.
In his new position, Sen. Moran aims to build upon legislative achievements such as the SFC Heath Robinson PACT Act for toxic-exposed veterans' healthcare; the John Scott Hannon Act for mental health resources; and the VA MISSION Act aimed at providing timely care for veterans.
