Today, Rep. Ron Estes (R-Kansas) released a statement following Boeing's formal announcement of its plans to acquire Wichita-based Spirit AeroSystems.

"Kansas' hardworking people and flat plains fostered a century of experience and expertise in making flight possible for millions of people – and the Sunflower State continues to lead in aviation and aerospace. We will closely monitor Boeing's acquisition of Spirit AeroSystems and their engagement with our community and the men and women who work in the industry, but regardless of the name that appears on the expansive complex in Wichita, I'm committed to ensuring the Air Capital of the World's skilled workforce continues to thrive and can design, manufacture, and assemble components, fuselages, and finished aircraft to service the world."
