Today, Representative Ron Estes of Kansas expressed his position following his vote to expel George Santos from the U.S. House of Representatives. In a statement, Rep. Estes emphasized the importance of integrity in public office.

"Serving in the United States House of Representatives is an honor and a privilege," he stated. He further commented on Santos' conduct, "The now-former Representative George Santos' actions were not only unbecoming of a Member of Congress, but the facts reported by the Ethics Committee point to numerous violations of House rules and federal law, rendering him unfit to serve in this distinguished institution."

Rep. Estes expressed regret that Santos did not resign voluntarily but noted that the decision allows New Yorkers to select their preferred representative: "While I wish he had taken the honorable approach and resigned, today's vote gives New Yorkers the opportunity to elect the representation they choose."
