104 coaches at institutions in Sedgwick County earned $57,900 on average in 2022

Sedgwick County’s 104 coaches earned an average salary of $57,900 in 2022, according to the U.S. Department of Education.

This is the eighth highest average salary per county earned by coaches at Kansas post-secondary schools during 2022.

Sedgwick County is home to three post-secondary schools that paid coaches during 2022. Among them, Wichita State University stood out with the highest average coaching salary of $239,947.

Male coaches of men's teams received $105,186 on average in Sedgwick County, while female coaches in charge of women's teams earned an average of $73,701.

Research from the Vanderbilt Owen Graduate School of Management found NCAA coaches are compensated like CEOs, with top coaches earning more than $1.5 million annually.
