U.S. Senator Jerry Moran (R-Kan.), the ranking member of the Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, has expressed approval for the Senate's passage of the Department of Veterans Affairs Expiring Authorities Act of 2024. This legislation was passed as part of the Continuing Resolution.

The new law reauthorizes select authorities within the committee’s jurisdiction into the next fiscal year to ensure that veteran programs and services continue without interruption. The act includes extensions for several veteran programs, which Sen. Moran has actively supported. These include improvements in hospital and nursing home care, expanded mental health services, and efforts to combat veteran homelessness.

“Veterans across the country depend on programs offered by the VA to access the care and benefits they have earned through their service,” said Sen. Moran. “This legislation helps these programs seamlessly continue into the next fiscal year to prevent disrupting veterans’ lives, and I look forward to the President signing it into law.”
