Greg Ferris is seeking the Republican nomination to represent the Third District for a four-year term. The primary election will be held on August 6.

Per Sedgwick County's Election Office, Ferris is running in the GOP primary against Stephanie Wise and Alan Reichert.

On his campaign website, Ferris pledges his commitments to reducing property tax increases, championing citizen-focused initiatives, and ensuring efficiency of county services.

Ferris is a business owner and former city council member who has worked with multiple levels of government for 25 years. "I will use my experience working with local, state, and federal government to guide Sedgwick County towards a safer, economically-thriving, and citizen-focused place," he said.

Ferris' campaign website notes that he is a lifelong Wichita resident. An alumnus of Wichita State University, Ferris owns Ferris Consulting. He and his wife have been married for 36 years and have two sons and a daughter-in-law.

In a press release, R.E.D. PAC — a political action committee focused on rural economic development — presented Ferris as a candidate who "has demonstrated a robust understanding of the issues" in his district and has "a clear commitment to principles that ensure economic stability, promote transparency and accountability in governance, and safeguard the community."

R.E.D. PAC Chief Strategist Charlie Kolean endorsed Ferris, praising his "unparalleled dedication to protecting private property rights and implementing practical solutions to enhance community living" and predicting that his "leadership will be instrumental in ensuring that Kansas communities thrive in an environment where freedom, security, and prosperity are the top priorities."

The Sedgwick County Commission comprises five members, each representing one district. Commissioners' responsibilities include supervising County property, approving the annual budget, levying County taxes, constructing and maintaining roads and bridges, and serving as the local board of health.

According to the Kansas County Commissioners Association, commissioners are elected to staggered four-year terms.
